New page

<!-- Imported from https://wiki.hackforums.net/Popularity source revision 2019-02-08T23:21:45Z -->
Overview
The popularity system on HackForums is part of a MyBB built-in feature that allows certain groups of members to show their opinion of another member to anyone else on the forum. Using the popularity system is limited to L33t and above although everyone can see one another's popularity.

Popularity used to be known as reputation before it was removed and reset, following a string of abuse and over-reliance for marketplace deals.

Gaining Popularity
Popularity can be gained by contributing to the forum in a positive manner. Some of the ways one can gain popularity include providing free resources, conducting successful deals, providing tutorials for members or just interacting with one another. The idea behind popularity is to represent what people think of each other and to represent how popular someone is, although this isn't always the case.

Popularity Abuse
Abuse isn't much of an issue with the new popularity system, especially considering it has no benefits as the marketplace is determined completely on the contracts feature. It is purely for looking cool and, subsequently, has received little to no abuse. In the case that someone does abuse the system, they will often experience an account ban or closure, or, rarely, a rep reset.

Amounts
* L33t members can give +1 positive ratings, as well as neutral ratings, up to 10 times per 24 hours.
* Ub3r members can give +3 positive or -3 negative ratings, as well as neutral ratings, up to 25 times per 24 hours.
